WHAT WE NEED
Areas of Greatest Need Donations designated for the "greatest need" will be directed to programs or projects most in need of support. These include scholarships to support attendance of children and youth from low-income communities and purchases needed for instruction or accessibility.
Accessible Dorms Our highest priority is making sure that EVERY CHILD, regardless of disability or family income, has the opportunity to experience Blue Sky Meadow. Two new fully-accessible dorms will be opened by Summer 2008 that can accommodate children in wheelchairs and their companions.
This construction project is overseen by the Foundation's Science and Outdoor Education Committee. The Board member chairing the committee is Earl Butler. The fundraising leader is Board president-elect Madelyn Alfano.
Contributions to this project will allow more time, money and energy to be directed to supporting programs for disadvantaged and disabled kids.
Other Capital Projects and Purchases
Donations can help meet additional needs, including:
- Installation of wheelchair paths and purchase of all-terrain wheelchairs
- Purchase of new bunkbeds and mattresses
- Purchase of a 4-wheel-drive light-duty pick-up truck
- Plumbing upgrades and installation of a kitchen in Juniper Lodge
- Renovation of a storage building for classroom and meeting space
- Appliance upgrades/replacements in the main kitchen
- Generator replacement and conversion to solar power
- Installation of a permanent pool
- Purchase of a Bobcat or front-end loader with backhoe
